Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to apply advanced protective relaying and controls knowledge to HV/EHV substations. The role emphasizes directing design efforts, mentoring engineers, and coordinating with clients, vendors, and project teams to deliver thorough engineering solutions.

Hybrid work is offered with three days in the office and two remote days; a generous relocation package may be available depending on location.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree.
• 12+ years designing substations 138kV and above.
• PE license is required.
• Experience liaising with clients and project teams in a lead role.
• Experience writing relay calculations documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection and controls engineering design efforts for substations.
• Prepare relaying philosophies and configurations for relay, control, and communications equipment.
• Mentor junior and senior engineers and designers on protection projects.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and project managers to ensure timely design.
• Review and update single line diagrams and schematics.
• Provide design reviews and site coordination for construction.
