Job summary

ENERCON Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation Engineer - Protection and Controls to join our Power Delivery group in multiple U.S. office locations, including Tampa, FL.

You will design substations, perform protection and control analyses, and provide field support during construction and commissioning. The role requires a PE-eligible or PE license, 6+ years of experience, familiarity with relay schemes, SCADA basics, AutoCAD and MicroStation proficiency, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in Substation engineering, focusing on protection and control projects.
• Familiarity with relay protection schemes and relay logic.
• Basic understanding of SCADA design.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Strong familiarity with NESC, IEEE, and other codes and standards.
• Willingness to enter energized substations with PPE.
• Self-driven in time management with clear communication to stakeholders.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
• Willingness to travel for client site visits and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Substation Design & Drafting: Develop drawings including single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and collaborate with Civil Engineering for foundations and structures.
• Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Conduct grounding, lightning protection, voltage drop, conduit fill, and protective relaying sizing and coordination analyses.
• Protection & Control: Develop relay settings with other departments and vendor engineers.
• Technical Documentation & Specifications: Create equipment specs and work scopes.
• Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Ensure on-time, accurate electrical design meeting standards.
• Field Support: Provide on-site support during construction and commissioning.
