Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer – Protection & Controls to lead protection, control, and wiring design for high-voltage substation projects. You will oversee relay schematics, wiring documentation, and constructible packages across diverse client bases.

This role offers ownership in a dynamic ESOP-driven firm, mentorship responsibilities, and opportunities to advance toward technical or project leadership within a full-service EPCm environment.

Qualifications

• BS degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
• 6+ years in substation, power delivery, protection and controls, or electrical design.
• Strong knowledge of protection and controls design and client documentation.
• Proficient CAD skills (AutoCAD/MicroStation).
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection, control, and wiring design for substation projects.
• Develop relay/control schematics, wiring docs, and schedules.
• Ensure designs meet client standards and project requirements.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, and project managers.
• Formally check deliverables and mentor junior staff.
• Contribute to project schedules and lead activities as needed.
