Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer – Protection & Controls to lead protection, control, and wiring design for high‑voltage substation projects. You will produce single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams and documentation, and guide the work of engineers and designers across disciplines.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with clients and vendors, and apply advanced standards while ensuring constructible deliverables and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 6+ years in substation protection & controls or electrical design.
• Advanced knowledge of substation protection and controls design.
• Proficiency with CAD: AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Strong familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection, control, and wiring design for substation projects (single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams).
• Develop and oversee protection and control deliverables (schematics, wiring, cable/conduit schedules, nameplates).
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, clients, vendors, and project managers to deliver constructible packages.
