Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group seeks a Substation Engineer – Protection & Controls to design protection, control, and wiring for high-voltage substations. You will produce diagrams and wiring docs, including protective relaying and SCADA/automation scope, and grow toward independent design.

You’ll collaborate with engineers and designers, build experience from production support to leadership, and travel to sites as required. ESOP-enabled, with growth pathways and mentorship available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
• 2+ years of experience in substation, power delivery, or electrical design.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and familiar with wiring schematics and relaying interfaces.
• Working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise single-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring docs.
• Support protective relaying, SCADA/RTU, and automation interfaces within scope.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, and clients to deliver complete packages.
• Apply design standards and ensure quality and constructibility.
• Travel to project sites and substation locations as needed.
