Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group in Cleveland, OH, seeks a Substation Engineer – Protection & Controls to design protection, control, and wiring for high-voltage substations, growing toward independent design.

You will produce single-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring documentation, including protective relaying and SCADA/automation scope, while collaborating with a team and traveling to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• 2+ years in substation, power delivery, or electrical design.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical).
• Familiarity with wiring scope: AC/DC schematics and control wiring.
• Working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam for redlines and markups.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise single-line and three-line diagrams and wiring documentation in CAD.
• Build and maintain cable/conduit lists and client-specific documentation.
• Assist the project lead in developing protection and control documentation.
• Support protective relaying, SCADA/RTU, and automation design.
• Apply design standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC).
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, and clients to deliver complete packages.
