Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group, an employee‑owned firm, seeks a Senior Substation Engineer – Protection & Controls to lead protection, control, and wiring design for high‑voltage substation projects. You will manage SLDs, schematics, and constructible packages while coordinating across teams and vendors.

You will mentor engineers, help guide project schedules, and uphold client standards, with travel to sites as needed. A PE is preferred, with 6+ years in relevant design work.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 6+ years in substation/project protection and controls or electrical design.
• Strong knowledge of substation protection and controls design standards.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
• Demonstrated project leadership and ability to mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection, control, and wiring design for substation projects of varying size.
• Produce and oversee deliverables: single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring docs.
• Coordinate with drafters, other disciplines, clients, vendors, and PMs.
• Perform formal checking of project deliverables and review peers' work.
• Provide technical direction and mentoring to engineers and designers.
