Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group is seeking a Substation Engineer – Protection & Controls to design and document high-voltage substation protection, control, and wiring. You will progress from production support toward independent design, producing diagrams and wiring documentation while collaborating with a team of engineers and designers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in substation, power delivery, or electrical design.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical).
• Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise single-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring documentation in CAD.
• Build and maintain cable/conduit lists, nameplates, and client-specific documentation.
• Assist the project lead in developing protection and control documentation.
• Support protective relaying, SCADA/RTU, and automation design within scope.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, clients, and vendors to deliver complete packages.
