Job summary

Leidos Engineering is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of substation projects for electric utility clients across the Northern and Midwestern US. You will lead a team of PMs, manage cost/schedule/scope, and drive process improvements while reporting to senior leadership.

You will mentor staff, manage client relations, and help win bids. Remote/hybrid options are available, with preference to candidates near the Chicago area to support local clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or Related field.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant Project Management experience in the electric power industry or related field with BS degree OR minimum of six (6) years with Master’s.
• Experience with electric utilities.
• Understanding of electric power industry/infrastructure projects.
• Experience with project financials, bid proposals and cost estimates.
• Experience with portfolio management, contract management and risk mitigation.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (Workfront, MS Project, P6) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of project managers to deliver substation engineering design projects for electric utility clients.
• Oversee portfolio performance: cost, schedule, scope management.
• Drive strategic initiatives, focusing on process improvements and efficiencies.
• Mentor and develop project management staff.
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to address issues, report progress, and mitigate risks.
• Oversee bid documents, cost estimates, and responses to RFPs.
• Manage client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable processes.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities.
• Ensure contract requirements and quality control standards are met.
• Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and teams.
• Travel to client-related activities as needed (<25%).
