Job summary

Leidos Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a portfolio of substation engineering design projects for electric utility clients across the Northern and Midwestern US. The role combines portfolio oversight, client relations, and strategic initiatives, with remote and hybrid work options for those near the Chicago area.

You will mentor PMs, drive process improvements, and oversee bids, cost estimates, and invoicing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or related field.
• 7+ years PM experience in electric power or related field.
• Experience with electric utilities.
• Understanding of electric power infrastructure projects.
• Experience with project financials, bids and cost estimates.
• Experience with portfolio and contract management.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of project managers to deliver substation engineering design projects for electric utility clients.
• Own portfolio performance: cost, schedule, scope management.
• Drive strategic initiatives to improve processes and efficiency.
• Mentor and develop project management staff.
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to report progress and mitigate risks.
• Oversee bid documents, cost estimates, and responses to RFPs.
• Manage monthly client invoicing, accruals, and AR processes.
• Identify opportunities to support organizational growth.
• Ensure contract compliance and quality control; maintain stakeholder communications.
• Travel to client-related activities as needed (less than 25%).
