Job summary

Leidos Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a portfolio of substation design projects for electric utility clients across the Northern and Midwestern US. You will oversee project performance, mentor PMs, manage proposals and ensure timely delivery while aligning with Leidos' mission and values.

This role offers remote and hybrid working options, with preferred residence in or near the greater Chicago area to serve local utilities and teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or Related field.
• 7+ years of relevant Project Management experience in electric power or related field (BS) OR 6+ years with a Master’s degree.
• Experience with electric utilities required.
• Strong understanding of electric power industry and infrastructure projects.
• Experience with project financials, bids and cost estimates.
• Experience with portfolio and contract management and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of project managers to deliver substation engineering design projects for electric utilities.
• Own portfolio performance: cost, schedule, scope.
• Drive strategic initiatives, process improvements and efficiencies.
• Mentor and develop PM staff for collaboration and learning.
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to report progress and mitigate risks.
• Oversee bid documents, cost estimates and proposals responses.
• Manage monthly client invoicing, accruals and AR processes.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with contracts and quality standards.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, teams, subcontractors and support staff.
• Travel to client-related activities as needed (<25%).
