Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Physical Designer to join a project team focused on high and extra high voltage substations. The role involves creating detailed drawings such as General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, section views, and BOMs, while coordinating with engineers and vendors to ensure compliance with client standards.

The position requires 10+ years of substation design experience, proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and the ability to visualize parts in 3D.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of substation physical design experience.
• Associate’s Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience with 2+ years of drafting coursework.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and 3D visualization ability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substation drawings: General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Elevations, and BOM.
• Develop Grounding, Conduit, and Lightning Shielding plans for HV/LV substations.
• Review vendor information and ensure adherence to Client standards.
• Perform on-site walkdowns and contribute to design deliverables.
