Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Physical Designer to work in a project team on high-voltage substation design. You will prepare General Arrangement, Equipment, Section, BOM, Shielding, Grounding, and Conduit plans, and support 3D visualization of parts. Requires 12+ years in substation design and CAD proficiency.

The role offers a hybrid schedule with office and remote work, and values experience interpreting vendor data and following client standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of substation physical design experience.
• Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.
• Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design.
• Knowledge of design techniques and practical application of engineering science.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substation drawings: General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, Section Views and Bills of Material.
• Create Lightning Shielding, Grounding, Conduit/Connection and Below Grade plans.
• Develop Control Building Equipment layouts, Cable Tray, Lighting and grounding details.
• Interpret vendor information and incorporate it into design deliverables.
• Perform walkdowns at client facilities and comply with client standards.
