Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Physical Designer for a hybrid role based in the United States. The position involves creating General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, and grounding details for high/extra-high voltage substations.

Requirements include 10+ years in substation physical design, an associate degree in drafting or equivalent, and proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Occasional client walkthroughs are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of substation physical design experience.
• An Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or a high school diploma and 2 or more years drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Substation General Arrangement drawings.
• Prepare Substation Electrical Equipment Plans.
• Prepare Substation Section Views (Elevations).
• Prepare Substation Detailed Bill of Materials.
• Prepare Substation Grounding and Shielding Plans.
• Prepare Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details.
• Prepare Substation Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan.
• Prepare Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section.
• Incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
• Perform walkdowns at client facilities.
• Apply Client's standards to the work.
