Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Physical Designer to join a project team focused on high and extra high voltage substations. Responsibilities include creating a range of substation drawings and plans, interpreting vendor data, and performing client walkdowns.

The role is hybrid with in-office work required three days per week and requires 12+ years of design experience, with a background in drafting and proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Associate’s Degree in Drafting or equivalent with drafting coursework.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Substation General Arrangement drawings.
• Prepare Substation Electrical Equipment Plans.
• Prepare Substation Section Views (Elevations).
• Prepare Substation Detailed Bill of Materials.
• Prepare Substation Lightning Stroke Shielding Plan.
• Prepare Substation Grounding Plan.
• Prepare Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details.
• Prepare Substation Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan.
• Prepare Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section.
• Interpret vendor information and incorporate into design deliverables.
• Perform walkdowns at client facilities.
• Apply Client's standards.
