Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Substation Engineer to support its Energy & Power Group in North America. You will design substations for transmission and distribution, interface with utility and developer clients, and deliver designs from concept to IFC, including grounding and protection systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years direct substation design experience for utilities or consulting firms.
• Experience with GIS substations, AIS/GIS, and high voltage components is preferred.
• Proven ability to develop IFC drawings and related design deliverables.
• Experience as owner’s representative strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Design substations for transmission and distribution projects and develop deliverables.
• Interact with utility and developer clients, ensuring alignment with standards.
• Provide engineering overview and act as independent technical advisor.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to training modules.
• Support sales/proposals and ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.
