Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Principal Substation Engineer to advance designs for transmission and distribution projects within the Energy & Power Group.

You will interface with utility and developer clients while guiding substation design deliverables from concept through IFC drawings, ensuring quality and on-time delivery. The role requires leadership in mentoring staff across North America, engaging in project scoping, oversight of design reviews, and collaboration with

Qualifications

• 5 years direct substation design experience with utilities or consultancies.
• Advanced knowledge of high voltage substation components including GIS and switchgear.
• Experience developing substation designs from concept to IFC drawings (GA plans, conduit/sections).
• Familiarity with grounding systems and lighting/protection for substations.
• Ability to perform station service calculations and voltage drop studies.
• Experience reviewing equipment vendor specifications for control houses and switchgear.
• QA/QC of design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Proficient with CAD platforms such as Autodesk or Bentley.
