Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Substation Engineer to lead design of high‑voltage substations for utility upgrades, offshore wind, and interconnections. You will collaborate with regional and global teams, develop deliverables from concept to IFC, and interface with clients to ensure on‑time, within‑budget performance.

The role requires strong leadership, design discipline, and experience with GIS/AIS substations, grounding, and protection schemes, plus mentoring of junior staff in a hybrid work

Qualifications

• 5 years of direct Substation design experience with utility or consulting organization.
• Experience with GIS/AIS substations and related equipment, grounding, and protection.
• Experience as Owner’s Engineer/Owner’s Representative is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills for client interfacing.

Responsibilities

• Develop substation design deliverables from conceptual through IFC drawings and construction documents.
• Interface with utility/developer clients and coordinate with regional/global T&D teams.
• Provide QA/QC of design calculations, drawings, specifications, and field support.
