Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Lexington, KY seeks a Substation Engineer Consultant to manage project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, controls and scheduling professionals working on high voltage substations.

You will lead design phases, coordinate with civil and transmission teams, ensure on-time, on-budget deliverables, and support business development while mentoring junior staff. This hybrid role may include relocation assistance and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering degree required.
• 10+ years in design engineering and/or management of high voltage utility projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Experience with EPC, Owners Engineer, Traditional or Joint Ventures contracts a plus.
• Experience liaising with clients and preparing proposals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, controls and schedulers on HV substations.
• Coordinate with civil, structural and transmission teams to align design activities.
• Ensure projects are completed with high quality, on time and within budget.
• Mentor and develop junior staff and review work for accuracy and compliance.
• Communicate with clients and support business development opportunities.
