Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Substation Engineer Consultant to manage project teams across engineering, design, and scheduling for high voltage substations. You will oversee scope, budget, and schedule while coordinating with civil, structural, and transmission teams.

Hybrid work is offered with three days in the office and two remote days. A relocation package is available depending on location. Requires a BS in engineering and 10+ years in utility project design/management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Engineering degree.
• Experience in Project Management of Utility Transmission, Substation or Energy Projects.
• Knowledge of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI.
• 10+ years of experience in the design engineering and/or management of high voltage utility type projects.
• Experience in execution of projects in multiple contract arrangements including EPC, Owners Engineer, Traditional or Joint Ventures a plus.
• Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support, engineer or management role.
• Excellent written and verbal communications a must. Experience in writing proposals.
• Experience in cost allocation and control, estimating, proposal preparation, risk assessment programs and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, controls, and schedulers.
• Direct design phases coordination for all aspects of electrical engineering work.
• Coordinate and manage work performed by other stakeholders on the project.
• Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed with high quality, on time, and within budget.
• Identify and track potential out of scope work and coordinate with the client for approval.
• Coordinate systems design activities to ensure installation complies with specs, codes, and client requirements.
• Collaborate with staff locally and nationwide.
• Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly and meet client requirements and S&L formats.
• Review work performed by others, including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.
• Communicate directly with clients, providing project and account support.
• Support business development opportunities with existing and potential clients.
• Perform independent reviews of work, including scopes of work, proposals, procurement specifications, and contracts.
• Develop and mentor team members.
