Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Consultant in the United States to lead project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, controls, and schedulers for high voltage substation design and analysis. You will guide detailed design phases and coordinate across civil, structural, and transmission teams to ensure quality, on-time delivery and budget adherence.

The role requires 10+ years in HV utility projects, strong knowledge of NEC/NESC/NEMA/IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards, and proven

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Engineering degree required.
• Experience in Project Management of Utility Transmission, Substation or Energy Projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• 10+ years of experience in the design engineering and/or management of high voltage utility projects.
• Experience with EPC, Owners Engineer, Traditional or Joint Ventures contracts.
• Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support, engineer or management role.
• Excellent written and verbal communications; experience writing proposals.
• Experience in cost allocation and control, estimating, proposal preparation, risk assessment programs and techniques.
• ABET accredited program preferrable.
• PE license and/or PMP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, controls and schedulers in high voltage substations.
• Direct team lead in coordination of detailed design phases for electrical engineering work.
• Coordinate and manage work by civil, structural, and transmission teams.
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and with high quality.
• Identify and scope out potential out-of-scope work and coordinate with client approvals.
• Coordinate systems design to meet specifications and client requirements.
• Collaborate with staff locally and nationwide.
• Prepare reports/studies presenting technical information clearly for clients and Sargent & Lundy formats.
• Review work by others including calculations, drawings, reports, specs, and procurement specs.
• Communicate with clients providing project and account support.
• Support business development with existing and potential clients.
• Provide independent reviews of scopes of work, proposals, procurement specs and contracts.
• Develop and mentor team members.
