Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Consultant in the United States. The role leads project teams of engineers, designers, estimators and schedulers to design, modify, and analyze high voltage substations, ensuring quality, budget adherence, and timely delivery.

You will coordinate with civil/structural teams, manage scope changes, and drive client communications. A BS in engineering and 10+ years in HV projects are required, with PE or PMP preferred and relocation offered as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Engineering degree required.
• Experience in Project Management of Utility Transmission, Substation or Energy Projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• 10+ years in design engineering and/or management of high voltage projects.
• Experience with EPC, Owners Engineer, Traditional or Joint Ventures contracts.
• Experience liaising with firm/client in support or management roles.
• Strong written and verbal communication; experience in proposals.
• Experience in cost allocation, estimating, and proposal preparation.

Responsibilities

• Manage project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, and scheduling professionals.
• Direct design phase coordination for electrical engineering work.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and transmission teams.
• Lead to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with high quality.
• Identify out-of-scope work, develop scope changes and secure client approvals.
• Coordinate system design activities to meet specs, codes and client requirements.
• Collaborate with staff locally and nationwide.
• Prepare clear reports and studies per Sargent & Lundy formats.
• Review work including calculations, drawings, specifications.
• Communicate with clients for project and account support.
• Support business development opportunities with clients.
• Perform independent reviews of scopes, proposals, procurement specs, and contracts.
• Develop and mentor team members.
