Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12+ years designing substations at 138kV and above.
• PE license.
• Experience as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
• Experience writing and supporting relay calculations.
• Proficiency with design tools and producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Experience with protective relay equipment (SEL, ABB, GE, Areva, Basler).
• Proficient with MS Office; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection and controls engineering design efforts for substations.
• Coordinate design reviews with clients and vendors; mentor junior engineers.
• Prepare relay philosophies and configurations; oversee I/O and connection diagrams.
• Develop engineering studies for client and peer review; perform independent reviews.
• Guide teams and coordinate with project managers, client personnel, and suppliers.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification as needed.
