Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to guide design of high-voltage substations, mentor junior staff, and ensure quality and safety across projects from concept to construction. The role focuses on code-compliant engineering solutions and strong cross-functional collaboration with clients and teams.

As a Lead Substation Physical Engineer, you will develop layouts, grounding, protection schemes, and equipment specifications, while coordinating with vendors and ensuring on-time delivery

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 10 years of experience in Substation physical design engineering.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent document management and organization skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design power utility substations with general arrangement, layouts, and BOM.
• Design grounding, conduit drawings, and control systems.
• Create equipment specifications and cost estimates.
• Develop conceptual layouts for facility planning studies.
• Prepare support documentation for procurement, construction, and O&M.
• Lead client meetings and site visits to collect data and present solutions.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure QA/QC compliance and technical approvals.
