Job summary

Qualus seeks a Lead Protection & Control Engineer to design high-voltage substations and lead technical efforts from concept through construction. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure quality, safety, and reliability across complex utility projects while collaborating with clients and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include developing relay protection schemes, preparing equipment specifications, and guiding design packages through QA/QC processes to ensure compliance and on-time

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10 years Substation physical design engineering experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong document management and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Design protection and control systems for substations, including diagrams, wiring, and SCADA interfaces.
• Develop relay protection schemes and control philosophies with engineering calculations.
• Create equipment specifications and cost estimates for procurement.
• Prepare conceptual designs and layouts for new and existing facilities.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams for project execution.
• Lead QA/QC processes and review engineering packages for quality and compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and review calculations, drawings, and specs.
