Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer to lead design of high-voltage substations, mentor junior engineers, and ensure quality, safety, and reliability across complex utility projects. You will collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams from concept through construction, driving technical excellence.

The role emphasizes solving challenging technical problems, producing code-compliant solutions, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• 7–10 years of experience in substation physical design engineering.
• Strong documentation, organization, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design power utility substations per codes and client standards, including layouts, grounding, cable routing, and BOMs.
• Perform grounding/grid design, lightning protection, and ampacity calculations.
• Create equipment specifications and development of design scope and cost estimates.
