Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to design substations including general arrangement, equipment layout, grounding, and power systems, applying codes and client standards. Responsibilities include documenting specifications and BOMs, concept layouts, and QA/QC of design packages.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, 6+ years of substation design experience, and a PE license, with proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation. Multiple U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
• 6+ years of experience in substation physical design.
• Experience in working with electricity, preferably in utilities.
• PE license required.

Responsibilities

• Design substations utilizing applicable codes and client standards (general arrangement, equipment and electrical layout, elevation views, cable trench, grounding, conduit drawings, details, BOMs, AC/DC power systems).
• Design ground grids based on codes using industry software.
• Design lightning protection and grounding plans.
• Perform load, bus span, and ampacity calculations.
• Prepare equipment and material specifications and cost estimates.
• Develop conceptual designs and layouts for facility planning studies.
• Prepare QA/QC documentation for design packages.
• Engage in client meetings and site visits to collect or deliver data.
