Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Lead Protection & Control Engineer to design high-voltage substations, act as a technical SME, mentor junior engineers, and drive engineering excellence from concept through construction.

You will collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to develop innovative, code-compliant protection and control solutions while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability across critical utility projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
• 10+ years of Substation physical design engineering experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Strong written and verbal communication and detail-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems per codes and standards.
• Develop protective relaying and control system designs for substations.
• Prepare equipment specifications and cost estimates.
• Lead client meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Support procurement, construction, commissioning, and O&M activities.
