Job summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Structural group to support the Water Business Line in Chicago, IL with experience in design of new structures as well as structural forensic work related to water treatment plant structures, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Duties include performing portions of assignments, gathering data, using structural software (RISA 3D, STAAD, Excel, AutoCAD, REVIT), and mentoring junior engineers.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Structural Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent
- Valid Driver's license and motor vehicle records check
- Valid SE license in Illinois and/or PE in any reciprocating state
- US Citizenship or green card required
Responsibilities
- Performs specific portions of a broader assignment for an experienced engineer
- Gathers engineering data using field notes, sketches and photos
- Uses structural programs (RISA 3D, STAAD 3, Excel, AutoCAD, REVIT) for design tasks
- Prepares field sketches and reviews building conditions
- Occasional travel up to 30% of the time
- Mentors entry-level engineers and works with budget/schedule constraints
- Communicates results clearly to clients and internal stakeholders
