Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior structural engineer to contribute to the design and upgrade of electrical substations. You will apply expertise in materials behavior, structural analysis, and reinforced concrete design, collaborating with clients and project teams to deliver accurate calculations and specifications.

The role involves travel to client sites, coordinating with engineers and suppliers, and preparing comprehensive design documentation.

Qualifications

• BSCE or MSCE from ABET-approved program with strong background in materials behavior, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• 7+ years as a practicing structural engineer, preferably on electrical substation design/upgrade.
• Strong client communication with appropriate technical detail.
• Willingness to travel to client sites for scoping meetings and field verification.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment, and foundations.
• Develop integrated structural designs and supporting calculations for planned work.
• Prepare technical specifications for structural materials.
• Review work performed by others and provide guidance to engineers and project managers.
• Coordinate with clients, project managers, and suppliers to ensure timely design deliverables.
• Review existing facilities to propose upgrades and present findings.
