Job summary

Sargent & Lundy, based in the United States, seeks a Substation Physical Project Designer to join a project team of engineers and designers working on high and extra high voltage substations. The role covers detailed drawing production, field data collection, and client coordination for design alignment.

The candidate brings extensive drafting experience, strength with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and the ability to visualize complex equipment layouts in 3D.

Qualifications

• An AssociatesDegree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• 15 or more years of substation physical design experience.
• Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
• Ability to visualize Equipment Details, Phase to Ground and Phase to Phase Clearances.
• Ability to multi‑task from project to project.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and reviews substation drawings and deliverables.
• Leads field walkdowns and interfaces with clients/contractors.
• Ensures designs comply with codes and Client standards.
• Provides guidance to designers and reviews calculations.
• Manages work plan within budget and schedule.
