Job summary

We are seeking a Structural Engineering Intern at Sargent & Lundy to assist on project teams focused on the design of electrical substations and related structures. You will work under engineers to develop calculations, drawings, and designs, gaining exposure to materials, concrete, steel, and foundations.

The intern will contribute to calculations, review drawings, and support design efforts, with opportunities to expand knowledge in IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318 as part of a multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Strong academic background with interest in materials, structural analysis, steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundation design.
• Good verbal and written communication skills plus strong PC skills.
• ABET-accredited BSCE or MSCE program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Review structural design drawings and vendor drawings.
• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundations.
• Support a team of engineers and designers in structural analysis and design of steel structures, connections, concrete members, platforms, and foundations.
