Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior structural engineer to own design, analysis, and qualification of second-stage and payload structures for New Glenn. You will lead manufacturability initiatives, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical guidance to early-career engineers.

Responsibilities include creating 3D models, performing sizing via hand calculations and FEA, and supporting production and qualification tests.

Qualifications

• B.S. in engineering with 5–8+ years in aerospace structures.
• Experience with metallic aerospace hardware and structural composites.
• Hands-on shop floor or test environment experience.
• Proficient CAD, hand calculations, and FEA tools.
• Knowledge of GD&T ASME Y14.5, Y14.100, Y14.41.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and configure structural subsystems for launch vehicle.
• Develop 3D models, drawings, assemblies, and interface control documents.
• Perform structural sizing with hand calculations and FEA.
• Resolve nonconformances and support MRB and failures.
• Develop structural test plans and participate in readiness reviews.
• Lead subsystem test planning, data reduction, and analysis.
• Coordinate with design, manufacturing, test, and operations.
• Mentor level 1–2 engineers and communicate risks.
