Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design on nuclear facilities and upgrades. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, guide junior members, and apply advanced structural concepts to steel and concrete components while interfacing with clients and vendors.

The role emphasizes hands-on calculations, code compliance, and travel to project sites for reviews and construction coordination. Strong communication and years of experience are essential.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Five or more years as a project-team structural engineer.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, ANSYS).
• Proficiency with ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI design codes.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directly apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, and design of structural members.
• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development; guide junior engineers.
• Use state-of-the-art tools to perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for coordination and verification.
