Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead design engineer in structural engineering to guide a team on nuclear facility projects and plant upgrades. You will interface with clients, other disciplines, and engineers to deliver robust designs.

The role focuses on materials, structural analysis, steel and concrete design, with opportunities for travel to client and site locations for reviews and field verification.

Qualifications

• MSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE or SE license.
• Ten or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of industrial / heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a design engineering team of structural engineers and interface with other disciplines and clients.
• Guide design calculations, develop specifications, and coordinate drawings with designers.
• Oversee structural analysis of safety-related structures under seismic and other loading conditions.
• Travel to client and vendor sites for design reviews and field verification of designs.
