Job summary

Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group is seeking a Structural Engineer – Project Lead to guide a team of structural engineers on diverse projects including SMRs, ARTs, and nuclear plant upgrades. You will interface with clients and multi-disciplinary teams, oversee design calculations, and mentor junior engineers to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality structures.

The role emphasizes leadership, advanced analytical work, and hands-on design using state-of-the-art tools.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience on project teams for design/analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide a team of structural engineers across multiple projects.
• Interface with clients and other engineering disciplines.
• Direct preparation and review of design calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers to deliver high-quality engineering deliverables.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations using advanced tools.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification.
