Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to contribute to the design and analysis of carbon-free nuclear energy projects. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, apply materials and structural design principles, and mentor teammates in delivering reliable nuclear facility solutions.

The role involves design of nuclear facilities such as SMRs and ART, interface with other disciplines, and occasional field verification.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with focus on Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 5+ years on a project team in design/analysis of structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD/SAP2000/SAFE/STRUDL/ANSYS).
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
• Work on diverse projects for various clients.
• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specs and reports, and support drawing development.
• Mentor junior engineers on deliverables.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members and foundations using advanced tools.
• Travel to client and vendor sites for design reviews and field verification.
