Job summary
Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead design engineer in structural engineering to guide a team on nuclear facility projects and upgrades, interfacing with clients and other disciplines. This role emphasizes mastery of structural analysis, steel and concrete design, and code compliance.
Responsibilities include directing design calculations, developing specifications, and coordinating with designers on drawings, with occasional travel to client sites and plant locations for reviews and field
Qualifications
- BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 12+ years of experience working on design/analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS).
- Proficiency with design codes: ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- PE or SE license.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of structural engineers and interface with other disciplines and clients.
- Prepare, review, and guide design calculations, develop specifications, and work with designers on drawings.
- Oversee structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
- Travel to client and vendor offices or plant sites for design reviews and field verification as needed.
