Job summary

Jacobs in Denver seeks a Structural Engineering Professional to contribute to design and analysis of steel and concrete structures from concept through construction. You will collaborate with the design team and lead engineers to develop design concepts and communicate structural requirements in drawings and models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer License (PE/PEng).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering.
• Proficient with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI and AISC.
• Proficient with Structural Engineering analysis software, Navisworks and Bluebeam.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design with minimal supervision.
• Plan and conduct work requiring judgement in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Exercise sound engineering judgement and problem-solving skills, not hesitating to reach out to others for guidance or confirmation when questions arise.
• Apply wind and seismic provisions per building code in lateral analysis and design.
• Exhibit attention to detail and quality control.
• Check own work and seek guidance when needed.
• Perform calculation checking of other engineers' work.
• Take responsibility for workload and meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
• Take complete ownership of the structural scope and communicate scope and effort.
• Identify scope change and escalate to Structural Lead or Project Manager.
• Recognize when help is needed and reach out to peers.
• Work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner.
• Develop leadership skills and mentor designers/drafters.
• Advance workflows and embrace emerging technologies.
