Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead structural engineer for a hybrid role in the United States, with work from home and in-office collaboration in the Los Alamos area. You will lead design efforts on a multi-disciplined team, delivering calculations, drawings, and reports to meet project requirements.

The role requires U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain a government security clearance, a BSSE/MSSE from an ABET-accredited program, and 10+ years of structural experience.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• BSSE or MSSE degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering.
• Experience with foundations, structures, and support structures design.
• Experience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC.
• DOE site experience preferred; travel to project locations may be required.
• Experience preparing design drawings, analyses, and procurement specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design engineering on a multi-disciplinary project team.
• Produce calculations, analyses, drawings, specifications, and reports; ensure technical soundness.
• Apply engineering expertise to design structures, systems, and components.
• Produce procurement and construction specifications (structural).
• Monitor staff work and keep tasks within schedule and budget.
• Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns.
• Mentor junior engineers.
