Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Knoxville, TN, is seeking a seasoned structural engineer for nuclear facilities. This hybrid role requires collaboration with a team of structural engineers and interfaces with other disciplines, delivering design and analysis for safety-related structures.

The successful candidate will have a MS in Civil Engineering, 5+ years of project experience, and proficiency in SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA, along with knowledge of ASCE and ACI codes.

Qualifications

• MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Five or more years of experience on a project team designing and analyzing structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA.
• Working knowledge of ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Experience with blast design and UFC 3-340-02 guidelines; explicit dynamic LS-DYNA analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• This is an engineering position offering opportunities in structural engineering, collaborating with a team of structural engineers.
• Lead engineers support design projects and interface with engineers from other disciplines.
• Ensure successful completion of project deliverables meeting technical, quality, and project controls expectations.
• Act as a technical liaison with the client and a lead technical resource on projects.
