Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced structural engineer to lead design on nuclear facilities and upgrades. You will collaborate with a team of structural engineers, interface with other disciplines, and ensure high-quality deliverables for safety-critical structures.

The role focuses on applying advanced analysis, codes, and blast/impulsive loading design using industry-standard tools, with travel to client sites for reviews and field verification as needed.

Qualifications

• MS degree in Civil Engineering with an ABET-accredited program
• Five or more years of experience working as part of a project team in design and analysis of structures
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA
• Proficiency with analysis and design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
• Knowledge of blast loads using single-degree-of-freedom tools per UFC 3-340-02 and PDC guidelines
• Experience designing and assessing structures subjected to explosive loading using LS-DYNA
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of structural engineers and interface with other disciplines
• Lead technical resources on projects and ensure delivery of technical, quality, and project controls expectations
• Apply materials, structural analysis, and design concepts to safety-related structures in nuclear facilities
• Perform structural analysis under various loading conditions including seismic and impactive loads
• Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and field verification as needed
