Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Knoxville, TN, seeks a senior structural engineer to lead design and analysis for nuclear facilities. The role features a hybrid work model with three days in the office and two remote days, collaborating with a multi‑discipline team on challenging projects.

You will direct steel and concrete design work, review calculations and drawings, and mentor junior engineers as you advance in a high‑impact environment within the Nuclear Power Group.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis from ABET-accredited program.
• Three+ years on a project team in design and analysis of structures (steel and concrete).
• Experience with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS).
• Familiarity with ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI codes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design calculations, review drawings, and provide engineering oversight for nuclear projects.
• Collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines and mentor junior staff.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification when needed.
• Apply knowledge of materials, steel framing, reinforced concrete, and foundation design.
