Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer in Knoxville to join a team focusing on nuclear facilities, upgrades, and safety-related structures. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the Knoxville office and two remote days.

You will work on materials, structural analysis, steel and reinforced concrete design, and guide others in deliverables while collaborating with engineers across disciplines.

Qualifications

• MS degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Three or more years of experience in design and analysis of structures as a project team member.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS or LS-DYNA.
• Proficiency with codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design calculations and develop specifications; support drawing development and guide others in engineering deliverables.
• Perform structural analysis of safety-related structures under seismic and other loading conditions.
• Collaborate with a team of structural engineers and interface with other disciplines.
• Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and plant site locations for construction coordination.
