Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Knoxville, TN, seeks a lead structural design engineer for nuclear facilities. Hybrid work: three days in the Knoxville office, two remotely, guiding a team of structural engineers and interfacing with clients and other disciplines.

You will apply expertise in materials, structural analysis, steel and reinforced concrete design, review designs, develop specs, and mentor staff. Travel to client sites or vendor offices may be required for reviews and construction coordination.

Qualifications

• MSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE or SE license.
• Ten+ years of experience in design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a structural engineering team on projects for nuclear facilities and upgrades.
• Interface with engineers from other disciplines and with clients.
• Develop, review, and guide design calculations and drawings; prepare specifications.
• Oversee structural analysis of safety-related structures under seismic and other loading.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site coordination as needed.
