Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Principal/Sr. Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join a fast-paced development team in Palmdale, CA or El Segundo, CA.

Primary duties include stress analysis of primary/secondary structures, evaluating damage tolerance and durability of metal and composite airframes, and supporting manufacturing engineering. The role requires aerospace structural analysis background, CATIA/FEMAP/PATRAN/Nastran tools, and the ability to communicate complex

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with aerospace background, minimum 5 years’ experience (or Master’s with 3+ years)
• Sr. Principal requires 8+ years’ experience (or Master’s with 6 years)
• Active USG Secret clearance (with recent background check)
• Experience in bonded composite and metallic structural analysis
• Experience with large finite element models

Responsibilities

• Provide stress analysis for primary and secondary structure
• Review analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy
• Coordinate with other disciplines during design development
• Present structural issues/solutions to management and customer representatives
• Maintain and improve designs for production deliveries
• Develop thorough, imaginative, practical solutions aligned with program objectives
• Evaluate as-built products for conformity to standards
