Job summary

Clayco is seeking a Procurement Manager with hands-on steel project experience to lead scope, pricing, and coordination for large-scale data center, industrial, or high-rise projects. You will review drawings and specifications, write field-ready scopes, run RFIs, and break down labor and material costs while coordinating with fabricators, erectors, and field leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in steel PM, estimator, fabricator, erector PM, or GC PM.
• 3+ years hands-on field experience; office-only not a fit.
• Strong drawing review, takeoff, and shop drawing review.
• Constructability, erection sequencing, and trade coordination expertise.
• Experience writing scopes and labor/material pricing.
• Knowledge of AISC, SJI/SDI, OSHA Subpart R, and steel market.
• Negotiation on $5M+ scopes and GMP cost management.
• Proficient in Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, Procore, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and specs at design milestones and perform takeoffs.
• Write field-ready scopes with inclusions, exclusions, and trade interfaces; drive RFIs to resolution before bid.
• Make design suggestions to reduce cost and schedule; optimize member, joist, deck details and sequencing.
• Evaluate erection packages: crane locations, shipping, staging, and prerequisites.
• Build erection sequence with Operations and erector; ensure alignment with detailing, fabrication, and delivery.
• Find trade clashes and scope gaps before field; confirm ownership by a single trade.
• Break out pricing by labor and material as installed; manage price risk via escalations and prequalification.
• Own cost basis files; reconcile against GMP; monitor fabrication, delivery, and erection progress.
• Lead coordination meetings; review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and joist/deck submittals.
• Collaborate with superintendents, foremen, and erectors; cross-train in other structural/envelope scopes.
