Job summary

Clayco in Greenville, SC seeks a Procurement Manager with hands-on field experience in structural steel. You will read drawings, prepare scopes for fabricators, joists and deck, and price work with labor and material breakdowns.

The role emphasizes constructability, sequencing, trade coordination, and cost control on large-scale data center, industrial, and high-rise projects. You will lead bid packages, manage RFIs, and supervise field execution alongside operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years as a steel project manager, estimator, fabricator or erector PM; GC PM roles acceptable.
• At least 3 years of hands-on field experience in construction roles; office-only backgrounds not a fit.
• Strong drawing review, takeoff, and shop drawing review skills.
• Deep understanding of constructability, erection sequencing, and trade coordination.
• Experience writing scopes and building labor and material pricing breakdowns.
• Negotiation experience at $5M+ per scope and GMP cost management experience.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, Procore, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and specifications at design milestones and perform independent tonnage, joist, and deck takeoffs.
• Write field-ready scopes with inclusions, exclusions, and trade interfaces; drive RFIs to resolution before bid.
• Make design suggestions to reduce cost and schedule: member optimization, joist/deck alternates, simpler connections, erection-friendly sequencing.
• Evaluate how every package will be erected: crane locations, shipping, staging, and prerequisites.
• Build the erection sequence with Operations and the erector; drive detailing, fabrication, and delivery order.
• Find trade clashes and scope gaps before they reach the field; ensure items are owned by one trade.
• Lead field coordination meetings and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and submittals.
