Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Specialty Gas Engineer to oversee code compliance, safety, and handover for new and retrofit facilities related to gas systems. You will manage design teams, oversee contractor activities, and ensure timely project completion with a focus on safety and regulatory adherence.

You will lead cross-functional interfaces with SAS Infra, Manufacturing, and Engineering, delivering robust gas infrastructure and documentation for customers.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of specialty gas design and project experience.
• Semiconductor facilities or related high-tech field preferred.
• 5+ years direct construction site experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of IBC, IFC, NFPA and related codes for gas systems.
• Experience managing full lifecycle of projects (design through construction).
• Ability to read complex design plans and shop drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work overtime or non-scheduled days as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic fab and support project planning for specialty gas systems and critical path solutions.
• Develop and approve site construction and tool hookup specifications for gas piping and equipment.
• Guide contracted design teams on gas connections and materials of construction.
• Audit piping, equipment, and containment to meet codes and standards with EHS teams.
• Interface with contractors, designers, and owner organizations as the primary technical liaison.
• Support submittals, RFIs, NCRs, SWNs, and related requests for gas system construction.
• Document Site Observation Reports and manage punch lists to resolution.
• Identify and mitigate safety and code compliance risks in projects.
• Perform field inspections of ductwork and piping to ensure safety.
• Lead stakeholders across SAS Infra, Manufacturing, and Engineering to meet timelines.
• Oversee system handover with as-builts, certifications, and O&M manuals.
