Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its Internal Missions team to develop space hardware for satellites. You will own mechanical design from concept through space flight, perform architectural trades, manage electronics packaging, thermal management, and structures.

You will collaborate with a small team to reduce mass and cost while improving reliability. Applicants should have a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 6+ years of spacecraft mechanics experience, CAD/FEA

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 6 years of spacecraft mechanical engineering experience including electronics packaging, thermal, shock and vibration.
• Experience with architectural trade studies and first-order cost and physical analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD/FEA tools such as Ansys Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing and GD&T.
• Familiarity with spacecraft thermal architectures and launch/LEO environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical designs of Cesium spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces from concept to flight.
• Perform architecture trades, requirements derivation, and block diagrams.
• Conduct analysis for thermal, structural, and packaging considerations and support testing/qualification.
